HILLRAISERS

Pollsters estimate as much as 20% of Democratic voters are die-hard Hillary Clinton supporters embittered by the primaries. Many of them loudly reject the idea of an Obama presidency. Some even admit they’ll VOTE FOR McCAIN in November. Hard feelings have bolstered the Republican candidate in ways that boggle the mind.

And lo, a new voting block has formed. Their agenda reminds me of the evangelical community, complete with enflamed passions and single issue consciousness. Their position against Obama is based on belief and cannot be swayed. What they refer to as ‘recognition’ is really redemption they seek.

Hillraisers have made this election personal, and not in a noble, take-back-our-country sort of way. They want vengeance against the Democratic Party for circumstances their candidate helped make a reality. This is a collective temper tantrum, pure and simple. The world either revolves around them, or it suffers.

They aren’t interested in government function or reform. Their votes won’t be influenced by our failing economy, changes in our climate, energy concerns, or the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. They aren’t the least bit concerned about the election of future Supreme Court justices. Each and every issue debated in American culture today has been rendered inconsequential to Clinton supporters. Progress takes a back seat until a woman wins the White House.

Self absorbed agendas like this are an insult to liberal ideology.
